THE DEFINITION OF SPACE

Pace times duration is distance. Distance divided by velocity is time. Perspective manipulates distance. Perspective is an irregular number. Hope is an imaginary number. Hope times curiosity is imagination. Curiosity is an uneven integer. Hope and curiosity are based on perspective. Imagination and perspective are reciprocal mirrors. Imagination pulls perspective back and forth. Hope multiplied by duration is soft energy. Pace multiplied by curiosity is hard energy. Energy is an exponent. Energy is base ten. Curiosity and velocity equal focus. Focus plus imagination creates progress. Here we go.

Distance is terrifying, but it is tamed by perspective. Duration withers imagination. Our relationship to duration is confrontational. Movement. Distance. Duration. Movement through distance is ambitious. We use curiosity to fuel the movement that conquers distance. Movement generates energy. Distance does not equal space. We use movement to negotiate distance. We use hope, imagination, curiosity and energy to negotiate space. Contact and distance are struggles. We can touch space but we cannot touch distance. We build space, we destroy distance. We try to conquer distance with maps and contact. The relationship between space and contact creates the sensations that we call human.

Time and distance are allies in corruption. Time and space are allies in construction. Closeness is fast and warm, separation is excruciatingly slow and cold. This is as true on the smallest and largest of imaginary scales. Imagination is generating perspective. We use imagination to pursue theories. We use theories to build facts. Facts annihilate imagination. Confusion is all we have left.

The fact that we have imagination equals pure confusion. We have built every human phenomenon around confusion. Established certainties exist to undermine the subjective imagination. We have used duration to accumulate facts. Imagination is zero-sum. Human energy is powerful. Mental energy creates hope, curiosity and ultimately imagination. Multiplicity and perspective create distance and movement. Duration is built-in to space. We move through space armed with energetic confusion. In seeking to abolish the tyranny of distance, we are subtly trying to understand this space. We end up trying to understand confusion. This paradox is irreconcilable. Distance is not space. Space is confusion, and you cannot understand confusion.

You cannot sail through space. You cannot drive through space. Space is an accumulation of abstract particles – some physically empirical, some mentally manifested. Space contains hope and curiosity. These unreal variables defy quantification. Space is infinite. Distance is absolute. So far, we have simply concentrated on exploring distances. If we want any inhabitable answers, we must explore space.

If ultra-terrestrial exploration begins in full, we must not use maps, but humanity as the guide. Distance incites war. Maps are drawn to coordinate disagreements over distance. It is most unfortunate, but distance can be possessed. Space can never be possessed. We have used our perspectives and subjectivity to disagree about so many aspects of the universe. Different opinions on the universe are different opinions on space. This subjectivity is empirical. This oxy-moronic, paradoxical relationship is typical confusion personified. The universe is confused space.

We are inseparable from space. We will never be cold when we remember our relationship with space. This is the sensation our energy drives us toward. All the imagination and curiosity-tools propel us inside space. We cannot escape space. We presently find space very uncomfortable. It is unsettling. The answer is the confusion. The confusion is not a distance to be surveyed. Confusion is this. Space is where energy creates contact. The warmth of proximity and the speed of love are the racing nuclei that pull us into the confusion. This is space. We are space.
